Volunteering

A hand of Africa Foundation is an international nonprofit organization. Is registered and work in the Europe in the Netherlands. It has a local partner’s organization which is working hand to hands for the youth African development, and to save the life’s of albinos in Tanzania and Burundi.

In Tanzania, Hands of Africa is working with Tanzania albino center in Arusha, and in Moshi Kilimanjaro is working with (HEMFA) Health and Education Foundation for Albinism. Many of our activity is design to support the minorities albinos in Tanzania to improve their life. The whole world understands the suffering of the albinos in Africa. They are facing skin cancer, rejection in the communities, and in the family, illiteracy, and now the fear of being butchered with those who want their body parties, for witch-craft use.

TAC hosts volunteers from countries across the globe, provides accommodation and meals for them, supports them as they transition into a new culture, and arranges placements for them depending on their skills and background. We welcome everyone to volunteer with us, but also we have special need for administrators, Eye visions nurse and doctors, skins doctors, teachers, cancelling. These placements include work in orphanages and schools. Volunteers can come to Tanzania for as little as two weeks or for as long as three months depend with the program.

TAC, provides financial support for albinos, and community projects solely through the volunteer program fees. The fees are used to cover the following:
• Costs of daily operations
• Contributions to placements and community projects
• Special education program for albinos, which is new in Tanzania. The program includes:

1.     Secondary education

2.     Vocation training, in the area of sewing, auto mechanics, timber, and mansion.

TAC have target to support a number albinos individuals and groups, and community service projects. It does so at a ratio of 80/20 between community projects and TAC initiatives, respectively. TAC initiatives include, but are not limited on community awareness, albino’s advocacy, and continuing education and life skills for albinos in Tanzania.

Through its long-term relationship with the community and the volunteer placements, TAC is in a unique position to work with volunteers and community organizations to determine useful community service projects. As the organization grows, TAC will look to contribute in areas such as education, basic sustenance, home-care, sports programs, women’s groups and small entrepreneurial projects. In all cases, TAC will require that some investment be made by the receiving organization to complement TAC contribution.
