Welcome To Tanzania Albino's Center

There are a good number of albinos all over the world, but  recently the problem has been much realized facing the albino’s society living in Africa. Between 2007 - 2009, we have, for example,  seen killings of a number of albinos in Tanzania.

In many African families having albino is a stigma hence drawing little attention on their affairs, including social protection. They also experience social segregation in many aspects of life e.g. life skills and education. Moreover, this albino society, is a victim of witch-craft beliefs by being killed by witch-craft practices  who believe that body parts of albino can increase on their wealth . That idea have made the albinos life in Africa, especially in Tanzania unsafe.

The Hands of Africa Foundation in Netherlands has set up the project called (Education and Life Skills for people with albnisim in Tanzania  Our first task is to provide education to the albinos and create awareness to community to accept albinos as normal beings with all human rights including social protection including the following:

To provide their needs like sun-glasses and sun-blocks (skin cream) to albinos, to keep their eyes and skin safe.

To provide them with life skills for self reliance.

To establish a sun-crean factory for albinos in Moshi-Kilimanjaro by early next year 2011. The production of sun screen, will benefit not only albinos from Tanzania, we expect it will help as well the albinos in  neighboring, like Kenya, Burundi, Congo and Rwanda.

The Albinos Training Centre in Arusha, Tanzania, has built up a considerable knowledge and expertise on the subject of albinism. Very soon we will have a mobile albino clinic to serve the nearby villages. In Arusha, for example, there are more than 800 albinos. Unfortunately the availability of sun-blocks has become so difficulty. The was clinic for albino in Moshi KCMC Hospital but that clinic ceased when the researchers left 10 years ago. Currently, they are therefore unable to provide the necessary prevention and can only help by removing the skin cancers when they appear on their bodies. Furthermore, they can only advise the albinos to avoid exposure to the sun, which is virtually impossible in a tropical country in Sub-sahara where they usual lived in an open air.

HOW WE BUILD TRUST

One of the main reasons people do not give more to charitable organizations is because they fear their money will not be used efficiently for the proper cause.  People who support charitable causes -- particularly those in other countries -- need to trust that their funds are making a difference in the lives of those needed it. We build this trust, by utilizing the finances on the programme and its beneficiaries.  We provide donors with regular updates that inform them of the project progress and how the funds are been spent for proper accountability.
